The Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program (VASAP) consists of 20 programs throughout Virginia that aim to increase safety by minimizing the occurrence of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, leading to the reduction of related accidents and fatalities. Established in 1972, the program has grown into one of the top most impaired driving programs in the country. Providers of VASAP empower clients through psychoeducation, substance use evaluation, and counseling interventions, which can be paired with intervention services to provide obstacles in impaired driving while working on creating permanent behavior change to make our shared roads a safer place.
